The bulk of these were written back in 2000 to 2005 - Yet HSSM is something that almost no one is doing. I cannot figure out why so few hams have any interest in any kind of data network. I brought up HSSM on a weekly VHF net once and 3 or 4 guys made sure to tell me that HSSM is NOT ham radio, is not needed, and should be illegal.

Well after K8OCL passed away, so did his regular columns to CQ-VHF.
HSMM is really hard to do unless your in an open area like the MESH guys in Texas. In urban areas with you at least need a club to get behind it so nodes can be placed on commercial towers.
